Mayan ruins |

The Mayan civilization was amongst the superior as well as urbane cultures in the western part of the world before the advent of European explorers. This civilization is set to have prospered amid 300 and 900 AD and at one time comprised of more than 40 cities that were scattered across southern Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, as well as northern Belize. Some of the most impressive ruins of these ancient cities can be visited even today, amongst which many of these Mayan ruins have been voted as World Heritage Sites.
The Mayan ruins comprise of several splendid stone temples as well as pyramids that were above all ceremonial focal points for the inhabitants.
